3 Common Ductless Mini-Split Issues Homeowners Deal With
It’s shaping up to be a pretty cold winter in Grinstead, KY, and your HVAC system might very well end up working overtime to keep your house nice and toasty this year. If you have a ductless mini-split system, keep reading to learn about the three biggest problems to watch out for this upcoming winter season.
1. A Clogged Condensate Line
A traditional HVAC system uses a three-part system to get rid of condensate as it forms. In a ductless mini-split system, however, the condensate line starts at the air handler, runs directly through the wall, and carries condensate directly out of your home. If this line ever becomes clogged, then you can end up with water damage.
2. Leaking Refrigerant
You will typically hear early warning signs of leaking refrigerant before you see it. If you hear hissing noises or notice a drop in your system’s heating power when nighttime temperatures start to fall below freezing, then you could very well have a leak.
3. A Broken Air Blower
Your ductless system’s air blower not only helps spread heat around your home, but it also helps heat the other components of your ductless system. If your air blower cracks or starts malfunctioning this winter, then your evaporator coil could start to freeze. A frozen evaporator coil prevents the refrigerant from flowing freely and can cause a variety of other downstream issues to deal with.
